HORSE CLASSES
R.I.H.S RIDDEN HUNTER. Classes 200 to 206 & 213 are qualifying classes for the Royal International Horse Show and Horses must be registered on the 2008 Show Hunter Register. Owners & Riders must be Members of Sport Horse Breeding (GB). A £7.00 R.I.H.S levy is included in the entry fees.

“THE NATIONAL HUNTER SUPREME CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW” (“NHSCS”) QUALIFYING CLASSES. All Hunter Classes will be judged under Society’s Rules. Classes 200, 201, 202, 203 & 204 are qualifying events for this year’s NHSCS and only horses registered on the current year Show Hunter Register are eligible to enter. Registration must be quoted on entry forms and owners & riders must be members of the Society. The three highest placed horses in each class will qualify to enter at the NHSCS. No horse lower than third in its class will qualify.

Definition of Amateur Status: A person is an amateur for showing purposes, when showing ridden hunter in an amateur class, if he or she does not: 1.) Engage in breeding, livery, buying, selling, dealing or hiring horses as a means of deriving a main source of income, since 1st Jan 2006 2.) Accept remuneration whether it be monetary or goods in kind for employment in connection with horses in a racing, showing or livery stables or riding school (instruction at Pony Club & Riding Club excepted), since 1st Jan 2006 3.) Show a horse owned or sponsored by a company or commercial firm, or a horse for which his or her immediate family accepts livery or training charges from a person outside the immediate concern, since 1st Jan 2005 4.) Show a horse which a professional rider has qualified in the Weight or Small ridden Hunter Class for either the HOYS or the RIHS during the current year, unless the horse has subsequently been re-registered under new ownership. 5.) Show a horse which is exhibited by a professional rider at the same show. 6.) An Amateur Working Hunter may not be ridden by a professional rider in a Working Hunter class on the same day. 7.) Professional show persons must not enter the Amateur Ring whilst the classes are in progress.

214. Working Hunter. Mare or gelding, 4 years old or over, exceeding 148 cm (14.2hh approx), Grade A Show Jumpers and Advanced Eventers are not eligible to compete in this class. Any horse which has qualified as a Grade A Show Jumper or Advanced Event Horse as at 1st Jan in the current year is not eligible to compete in Working Hunter Classes. To be judged 40% for actual jumping, 20% for style and presence and 40% for ride and conformation. Fences will be a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 12 in number and a maximum height of 3ft 9ins (1.14m) at the discretion of the Judge. No change of tack or rider is allowed except if a sidesaddle is used, then the saddle may be changed for the Judges ride. Exhibitors can now enter up to two horses in a Working Hunter class but following the jumping phase it will be up to the exhibitor to select only one horse to take forward into the ridden & conformation section if required. A skullcap or hard hat with safety harness and navy or black cover must be worn to current approved BSI or European standards during the jumping phase. Horses may be equipped with boots of plain colour for jumping phase only. Rigid or weighted hind boots are not allowed

SECTION II Jumping. NO time will be allowed between these sections for any adjustment to tack or riders dress. Maximum height of fences 0.90m (4years), 1.05m(5years)

SECTION III Conformation and Type.
Note: following Section III, the ten horses with the highest marks will proceed to Section IV. In the event of equality of marks at this stage, the horse with the higher jumping marks will be given precedence. Should this still produce an equality of marks, all horses on that same jumping mark will come forward.
SECTION IV Suitability and Potential
Only the top ten horses are required for this section where they will be judged for star quality and potential to make the ULTIMATE THREE DAY EVENT HORSE. These horses will be required to gallop.
Note: in the event of equality of marks at the end, i.e. after all four sections, the jumping marks will be given precedence. Should this still produce an equality of marks, the highest mark attained the final section will be the deciding factor.
