Formed in around 1825 The Rutland Agricultural Society has held an annual show for 176 years, with only a few years of interruption during the World Wars. The aims of the society were:
“To further the cause of agriculture in the County of Rutland, to hold an annual show and to help support the education of young people in good agricultural practices.”
These aims still hold true today. The Show provides an ideal theatre for the interaction of “town and country”, with educational opportunities all round.
Membership of the Rutland Agricultural Society provides individuals with:
- Free entry to the Show plus preferential guest entry fee (£5) and pass to the membership area (£5)
- A designated forward parking area
- An invitation to the President’s Reception
- Entry to Members’ Enclosure
- Access to the Members’s Restaurant, where a delicious lunch can be obtained (reservations are essential)
- Annual Dinner – to be held February 2009
- The Annual Charity Golf Day – to be held September 25th 2008. This is followed by a dinner, to which wives, husbands, partners and guests are invited
